July 25-28 (Grand Hyatt, Washington, DC); August 1-3 (Virtual Workshops)

Dear Friends of NCIL,

The in-person portion of NCIL’s 2022 Annual Conference on Independent Living is scheduled for July 25-28, 2022 at the Grand Hyatt Washington. If you are interested in volunteering, we have opportunities for you!

Committed volunteers are critical to this conference’s success. We have wonderful incentives for those who put in volunteer hours.

  • If you volunteer 5-9.9 hours, half of your registration fee is waived / reimbursed.
  • If you volunteer 10 or more hours, your full registration fee will be waived / reimbursed.

Annual Conference Volunteer descriptions:

  • Registration Volunteers:
    • Sales Desk Volunteers: Provide registration & sales support. Process registration forms, set up sales table and tear down sales table, assist in selling NCIL promotional items.
    • Registration Desk Volunteers: Greet attendees and provide registration support. Create nametags, process registration forms and replenish bags / materials.
    • ALDs Volunteer: Greet attendees, provide and collect Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) to registrants, take ID and fill out sign-up sheet. Sanitize items before giving to another attendee.
  • Rally & March Volunteer: Distribute water and signs, direct marchers, and collect trash before, during & after rally.
  • Door Keeper: Responsible for watching the doors during the Exhibit Fair before the Awards Luncheon and not allowing attendees in until ready.
  • Mic-Runners: Facilitate large plenary Q&A sessions by bringing the microphone to participants.
  • Photo Booth Assistant: Assist at the Photo Booth during the NCIL Reception.

The deadline to apply is July 1, 2022 but with the high demand, volunteering shifts may fill up. Applying to volunteer does not guarantee hours will be available. The schedule will be distributed to everyone who signed up via the online form. The individuals who respond with the desired shifts will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

Thank you! Your support is invaluable!
